The Association of Search & Selection Consultancies was formed in 1983, became a division of REC in 1995 and reformed as the Association of Executive Recruiters in 2005
Adhering to a specialist Code of Practice, the AER reflects a need identified by both search and selection consultants and their clients for enhanced professional and ethical standards and aims to make sure that AER members fulfil and exceed the expectations of their clients and candidates. Clients of AER members can be confident that they are working in partnership with a recruitment consultancy that has satisfied the AER membership criteria.
With representation, experts in the field, PR and profile raising and networking opportunities, AER members are provided with a powerful message sent out to clients and candidates and are serious about standards.

Influencing public policy and industry regulation
The AER takes forward the views of its members on a range of issues that affect the industry every day; from employment regulation to immigration policy and public procurement methods.
Driving pro-active and innovative press campaigns
Industry messages will increasingly be backed by a pro-active press strategy aimed at the media. The objective in 2011 is to build on the REC’s growing national and regional media profile by
specifically promoting the views and activities of the AER.
Providing opportunities for active involvement
The work of the AER provides opportunities for members through active involvement in the REC's work to influence public policy on both a national and European level.
