ECSSA measures through a Business Barometer Index the Executive Recruitment Consulting market. In October 2010 this study has been carried out for the first time across Europe.

This study reflects a three month period (and will be repeated every quarter thereafter), a total of six European countries participated. The results of this "European business barometer index" will in the future, contribute significantly to provide more transparency to market trends and analysis in their respective markets.

In the formula used to calculate the index, (which is in line with the well-known German Ifo-Geschäftsklimaindex) it incorporates the subjective assessment of the current business (environment) situation and the subjective evaluation of future business prospects as well as projections. The index value should not only be over time, but also considered to differentiate in respect to these two factors of the assessment.
